RLC Paddle Design/Build Workshop

Friday, May 24  – Monday, May 27, 2019

 

 

Handcraft your own canoe paddle while staying and dining at the Eileen Rockefeller House in the Adirondack Park. Whether you want to build a performance bent shaft paddle, or beautiful work of art, this workshop will take you through each step including wood selection, paddle design, laminating, shaping with hand tools, decoration, and finishing.

 

In addition to working in the shop, participants will take short outings to try out different designs, hike for a view of the mountains, and end with a point to point half day trip on the Saranac River with the finished product. Farm-to-table meals with stunning views of Cascade Pass over Round Lake completes the experience.

Rates include all meals and drinks, activities, and lodging.

Tuition Options:

Overnight Tuition:

$595.00 ($565.00 early bird rate through March 15th)

Day Only Tuition: 

Satuday Only (9:00 am - 5:00 pm) and Sunday Only (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)

$150 per day, includes lunch

Includes:

• Historic 19th century farmhouse accommodations (comfy shared beds and bathrooms) 

• Catered ​farm-to-table meals

• Group instruction in paddle making, all materials provided

• Use of canoes, lifejackets, and paddles for excursions

• Linens and towels

Bring: warm clothing for outdoor adventures, hiking attire, journal, an open mind.

Cancellation Policy for Registrants and Guests:

For attendees who cancel reservations, the following is in effect:

• Cancellations made 14 days in advance of program start date will receive a full refund.
  Cancellations made 7 days in advance of program start date will receive a half refund, minus a $25 processing fee. 
  Cancellations received 6 days or less before program start date are subject to full forfeiture of the registration price.
  Medical or family emergencies will be considered on an individual basis.
